SELF-EVALUATION OF THE ORAL PRESENTATION

Few weeks before one of my clasemate and me did an oral presentation about a topic connected with beauty. We talked about beauty contest, the benefits, how the contestants prepare them for it and finally we explained to our classmates our opinon about it. As a task of this presentation we have to evaluate our-selves whatching the video but in my case I couldn't see it because my partner lost it, so for this reason in this post I'll explain you what are the defects an how I felt during the presentation. 

Our explanation was supported by a powerpoint with some infromation of our topic, but I really believe that there were a lot of information and we could manage without it. Furthermore the presentation was so long because lasted 25 minutes, so we spend a lot of time explaining things unnecesary and we could focused more in the topic. 

My body language was non-existent because I was nervous and I believe that I satyed still in the same place during all the presentation. The structure of the presentation I think that was correct because we introduce it, and then explain the ideas in order of importance, at the end we opened a discussion of our topic, but what was lacked, as I said before, was the choice of information because there were many.

The content was right because most of us know what are beauty contest but didn't know what kind of it there are, or in what consist it. So, we introduce new information and as a support for made the presentation more pleasant we use a song which talked about beauty contest. The song was Pretty Hurts by Beyoncé. 

As for my language I think that the grammar was easy and wasn't complex, I didn't prepare it much and almost all came naturally we hadn't planned much. For this reason I'm concious that there weren't rich and varied vocabulary or complex grammar. But I believe that everybody understand the presentation because the pronuntation was comprhensible although I stuk talking sometime. 

This is my evaluation of my presentation, there were some mistakes that I will keep in mind for the next oral presentation. I'm sorry for don't show you the video but I don't whatc it too, and I hope that you understand that this evaluation is subjective. 

HOPES FOR NEW ALZHEIMER'S DRUG DASHED

The news I want to comment is about a study of a treatment for alzheimer which resulted a failure because the drug investigated did the same effect to patients as the prior medicine.

The result of this study was extracted of 2000 alzheimer patients in the third phase called EXPEDITION3. They verify the new drug build up the amyloid protein in form of patch in the brain, what’s more it between the nerves cells cause damage and cell death in the brain.

Currently this dementia cause the death, although they searched drugs for get a cure but no one had found a solution. In the last study they found the big development of solanezumab of the patients, for this reason they finalized with the analyze because they hoped others results of the study.

On the other hand they discovered that the deposition of amyloid begins 20 years before the apparition of the desease due to the modification which suffered the blood circulation that delated stuff of  the brain. 

Even though they didn’t obtain the results that they hope, they don’t give up searching the solution of the dementia. They affirm this desease is the hardest of all present in the nowadays society.

In my view I’m proud that they are searching a solution for this dementia because I have a member of my family that suffered it and it’s very hard for all my family. The solution of it, will improve a millions of families which are in this situation. For this reason I support this research even if they don’t find a solution. 

As I was reading the article of the investigation I learned some words that I didn’t know the meaning. This words are solanezumab, dummy, amyloid and pipeline. 

BUMPER LOAD OF NEW VIRUSES IDENTIFIED

This new was published on the 24th of November by Jonathan Ball. It talks about an investigation which took place in China and Australia. There they found millions of new viruses that are post in the  journal Nature. 

Actually this investigation was did with invertebrates and they discovered some effects which this viruses cause to livings beings. On the other hand the study has done to show to the individuals the meaning of the viruses because most of us don't give it importance. 

Furthermore the current techniques which they use demonstrated the large number of viruses that surround us without we become aware it. They also found out that viruses aren't make up of ADN, although the affirmed that it are composed of ARN that have the same genetical information as ADN but with a difference:  ARN have a sequence of letters which allow for know if it is a new viruses or it belong to other virus. 

The research had been done with 220 spices of land and sea invertebrates, then from it they pull out six billions combinations of ARN which 1500 blends didn't fit in any family viruses tree. Besides some connoisseurs of the subject confirm this investigation is the best ever made in previous years and the following studies of it they hope to discover more viruses because they found a lot of viruses in a place where they never look at.

As a conclusion they said that viruses combined between them deriving to new viruses. The viruses analyzed in invertebrates during the searching they are the same that cause flu or any desease that affected humans. They hope do more investigations as it because they affirm that they only know a little part of this big world.

I'm totally surprised because I didn't have any idea about the large amount of viruses which surround us. I agree with some sentences that the investigators say in the article which said that we don't know nothing about virus world and we don't give importance to it. In contrast to this sentence, we have to worry about it because viruses are the originator of most of our deseases. So, for this reason I want to summary this new because it is interesting and it let know us aspects of the life which we don't knowledge it. 

As I was reading the article I learn some words that I didn't knew the meaning. This words are blinkered, snapshot, spineless and genomes. 

STRESS "CHANGES BRAINS OF BOYS AND GIRLS DIFFERENTLY"

This article is a study of Stanford University about how affected stress in brains of boys and girls. It investigation was carry out analyzing the insula which changes after a trauma. Insula is an internal  area of the brain which control the pain and process the feelings. 

In this study the investigators could see that insula had been modified in deferents ways boys and girls who had been a trauma. It discovered too that girls are more prone to had PTSD and it showed traumas and feelings affected on deferents ways. 

Stanford University analyzed 59 brains of guys and girls and divided it in two groups. The first one was formed by 14 girls and 16 boys who had been in a stress situation and traumas. On the other hand there are the second group formed by 15 girls and 14 guys who hadn't been in a stress or trauma situation. They could see that the first group insult had been changed in their size and volume. So, this change of the insula is the cause of PTSD.

PTSD is the term used to described the psychological effects of being involved in a traumatic event. So, this PTSD affects in deferents methods girls and boys. 

I believe that is probably traumas affected in deferents ways girls and boys. But it always happened because all the people have their own view of live and the acts and bad situations always affected in different ways girls and boys. For this reason I'm agree with this investigation because now we can know why emotions are odd from guys and girls. 

In this article I had learned new words as insula , sulcus and nightmare.

WHAT IS HAPPENING IN FIRST WORLD COUNTRIES ?

Christmas is coming !! Yes, that's true and I'm sure most of us are wishing it. I feel New Year's Eve is long-awaited because 2016 has become difficult as passed the months.  During this year grew different conflicts which remain for years such as legislative and presidencial elections, the burst of Syria and the refugees that come to Europe, dissatisfied society, racism acts, economical crisis... Besides it, I strongly believe as a consequence with that being said World War III is approaching.  

It can also be argued with facts that I considered relevant and it will be the source of this occurrence. Thus political and economical area are sectors which caused events commented before and tigger of misfortune. I'm 95% secure Donald Trump, the new president of USA, will began armed warfare because it will be the result of his election plan. 

Donald Trump announced in his speech that his intention is built a wall between Mexico and USA, reduce a considerable part of tax, ban islamics come to USA, right to bring firearm, send troops for combat yihadista's group in Irak. He also believe torture works and wanted to move prisoner to Cuba's prision and he want to have the power of Iran because he think that is dangerous they have atomic bomb. 

Before it, there were others elections in the world in Ireland, Bolivia and Portugal where discontented of people caused their adhere to others political party which were contrapose of the current party political.  

Spain also had a hard period of political crisis. Since Franco's dictatorship have been a kind of bipartisanship between PP and PSOE however last year appeared new political parties and Ciutadanos or Podemos who made people adhere it and cause a second elections. 

Furthermore of political problems, there are around the world a big economical crisis. It made countries to not accept refugees which come to Syria and we are sending them to field visits.  To sum up, people are changing their thoughts because are affected by crisis economy, refugees which increase racism and shortage information, it is reflected in the results of political elections. We have to be alert because in any moment can blow up the III World War and if it happen, it'll be destructive as said Albert Einstein "I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones."

PEER PRESSURE

Perfect. What is "perfect" ? How is the "perfect" guy ? There are words that are abstract because everyone of us have their concept of it with their own define. So, perfect and beauty are words abstracts but in the society there are peer pressure because somebody layed it dawn. 

We usually talk about the stereotype of woman, and it's true that we had many pressure to be bauty, slim, tan... but even tought apparently men don't have this kind of pressure. This is false, because they even have more pressure than women. 

They believe for win lady's heart they must put on muscle, tall, nice hair and good looking as a gallant. Most of them follow a stereotype which is out of the ordinary and nobody can be like it. So, the "perfect guy" as say the men,  they must have: Justine Bieber's hair, Gerard Butler's face, Hugh Jackman's arms, David Gandy's abdomen and Cristiano Ronaldo's legs. 

In contrast of men opinion majority of women prefer a more common and simple physique. 

The truth is that all of us fall in this social pressure circle, which always derive to depression, eating disorder, change appearance for others as making up, be in bad mood, etc. As a result of this, we resort to plastic surgery, dietician or even bulimia or anorexia for be pretty. All of us for peer pressure. 

In conclusion, as I see,  society disregard their qualities, beauty, originality and one-of a kind. We have to appreciate us because all are uniques and our own identity, for this reason we mustn't be perfect because it is trivial, unfortunately in this third an image is worth more than thousand words or in this case our interior. 

DOES HUMOR PLAY AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN LIFE ?

Actually our lives are bases on grow up studying, have a degree and find a job. Besides, we think most of us we'll be in love, we'll have a family and a beautiful marriage. But I believe that most of these acts happen because we do it with humor. So I defend humor has an important role in our lives. 

Laughter and humor are relevant points for our relationships. The truth is that when everybody meets new people and they don't have faith yet, they usually begin their relationships with humor telling jokes or silly things. Furthermore, friend relationship always appear because they understand each other and they'll do it with humor. When two persons came across always the first reaction is to be happy and laughs. 

Moreover, when all of us are sad or depressed we always figure it out with humor. Our distraction when we are worried or we don't know what to do we search some activity connected with laughing, too. It's proved that laugh makes better lifestyle and it's very healthy. 

In conclusion. humor takes an importan role in our life because it makes sense to our lives. If we laugh and have a good sense of humor we'll see life better and positive, we aren't be depressed. But if you stop to think, all in this world is solved with humor. 

BOB DYLAN WINS 2016 NOBEL PRIZE IN LITERATURE

This is a new which talks about Bob Dylan ,a well-known singer and composer  that at 75 years old receives, today Thursday 13th of October the 2016, Nobel Prize in Literature.  Swedish Academy declared him the winner for “having created new poetic expressions within the great American Tradition”. This act has been a shock because since 1993 that no one had win a Nobel Prize in Literature. 

The most surprising for the Americans is Dylan didn’t studied for be a writer but he has had a successful career and high profile as a singer. As Bob Dylan and experts in this field, such as the Swedish Academy, say  there was a big change in American contemporary music and he is subject to constant stream of literature. 

He win because he is unique and he created a new identity during his career. He had a enormous tour of the critical community and now he add a Nobel. He will receive his award ($ 900.000) the 10th of December in Stockholm. 

I don’t know so much in this field but I’m proud that Bob Dylan has win this Nobel. I love his music and he is well-known in the world music since he started his career. For this reason I support this prize for him because he deserves it. He have conquered all of us with his songs and now with his literature that is hidden in the lyrics.

THIS IS MY REAL FUTURE

As you can see the clases began again, and I’m here once again but this is my last year doing this blog, oh I hope it will. At September of 2017 I hope I’ll be in Barcelona studying my degree. 

I imagine my flat in a center of BCN with some of my friends, my tutor explain us how will be the year, my first seminar, my first lecture, the feeling of homesick, freedom, and all the spectacular thing that we imagine when we don't know how is the university.  

I wrote ones posts before my indecisions for what way take. Finally, I know what I would do because I look into both possibilities. I will study my double degree for training and meanwhile I will dancing in my dance academy. I’ll not risk my future in a dance degree where I don’t know if I can stand out or If I fit in, but I don’t give up dancing. 

I look forward to open my dance academy when I’ll finish my degree, I know that it will be in a six years or less but it is my dream. I think that in the main time I’ll be studying I’ll do some classes in a dance academy because my teacher told me that she was expecting me to do clases when I’ll finish my baccalaureate. 

This will be my next year, but there's still one year here with you and my posts because it will be a hard year and write helps to de-stress me. 

"RAPUNZEL SYNDROME"

I was searching on internet and last day I found a new which talks about "Rapunzel Syndrome". On these lines James Gallagher, the writer of the new, explained a case of a woman who suffered the syndrome. 

Rapunzel desease have two elements which all te patients with Rapunzel Syndrome suffer. This elements are: trichotillomania, the irresistible urge to pull out hair, and the trichophagia the compulsively eating hair. 

The woman's case which James Gallagher explain is awesome. The woman get to have a hairball of 15 cm in her stomach. She gave up to eat and lost fifteen libras of weight. She required medical aid urgently and doctors extracted from her stomach and intestine a giant hairball.

According to the investigation that carried out James Gallagher, there have only been 88 cases of this syndrome and most of them occur in girls less than ten years.

I've never heard of this desease but is amazing that women or children tear their hairs and then eat them. I don't know if it is a falsehood or if it is true, but if it's certain it's extremely dangerous for the body system. So, we've to pay attention if we see someone eating their hair and explained them the consequences because most of us don't know what it is this new desease.

Besides, I had learned the Rapunzel Syndrome in this article I had discovered new words as pluck, swell, densely, trichotillomania and trichophagia.

WHY WE DON'T LAUGH FOR A WHILE ?

One of ours projects is HUMOUR. We laugh for deferents things because everybody is different, but i'm sure that most of us had explained jokes or had listened one. MY NEAR FUTURE

Dear Lourdes, 

According to one of the entries of Word Reference a dream is a reverie about the future. Every one of us lived with a goal but we always find a challenge to overcome it, doesn’t matter the age or the difficulty of our goal, we live on dreams to reach them. 

Ooh !! Forgive me for my bad manners, I’m Judith Carpio your student of second baccalaureate. The vast majority of my classmates don’t know yet what they want to do in a  near future. But I’m an exception. So, I’m not utterly an exception because I’m split between my heart and my head and furthermore each one has its own goal.

My main goal is to focus on a degree to become a dancer, so I want to train my body and study to be a famous dancer. Afterwards I would establish a dance company with my twin, because he loves this world as me. On the other hand, my head has as a goal a double degree of educational practice because I love children and I would improve the current system education.

As I said before there are a lot of challenges and I've found one. If I follow my heart I’ll get into complex world that in most of the cases the people don’t succeed. But if I follow my head I’ll spend five years studying something that don’t complete me. I hope my dancer teacher, my parents and some months thinking about my future help me to take the correct decision. 

The speech of Barack Obama suggest me what is more important: my heart or my head. I finally decided to follow both parts and I’ll combine it. One of the sentence that he pronounced was: “But at the end of the day, we have the most dedicated teacher, the most supportive parents, and the best schools in the rolls. and non of it will matter unless all of you fulfill your responsibilities ”. 

These words encourage me for work hard this year because it’ll be tough to overcome for selectivity, TDR or other challenges we’ll meet on the way of studies. So as Obama said, teachers, parents or schools don’t do our work or tasks, We have to realize because nobody writes our future. This is another sentence that the President of USA said: “No one’s written your destiny for you. Here in America, you write your own destiny. You make your own future”. The sentence makes me think about my two goals in the future. I know I can do both but it will be difficult to overcome. With no doubt whatsoever I’m unsure I want to be a dancer and a teacher in my future. So, I’ll study and no one can’t change my mind. 

At last but not least there are other words that touch a nerve string. And he said: “Every single one of you has something you’re good at. Every single on of you has something to offer. And you have a responsibility to yourself to discover what that is”. I discovered what I can contribute, but I still have not decided. The world is set up of millions of people, so everybody is different and contribute in their own way. So we don’t have to let us down if we aren’t yet clear what we want to di in a future, but we have to become aware of our studies.

WHY 30 IS NOT THE NEW 20

In this writing I'll talk about today's twentysomethings based in a video of Ted Talk. Right now our society is long-delayed than decades before. Nowadays the young people finish the studies at twenty-odd, so this act make them

grab life with complete calm.  They think that have time until thirty for settle down, find a couple and rise a family.

But the people which belive it they don't have to do it. Many investigations and profesionals say hold up cause serious problems and consequences. The twenties are the adulthood development and if we leave all for do at thirties this development stop. So, the way of our life is decided in twenties. We don't have to find a couple, have a job or rise the family before thirties but we must think about what we would do in a future.

I really like the end of the video. She said to twentysomethings that they have to pave the way for when they arrive at therties will not have to do all and they will not lost in life. She recomend don't spend time in absudities or things for kill time because in every second of our life we are deciding the way of what we would be.

Along the video I didn't undertand some words. So I look for what it means. The first one was Twentysomething. it is the person who comprise age of twenty to thirty. The second one was weak ties, in this context it means contacts because she is refering that everybody must have contacts for get a work because we live in a society where everybody favour the acquaintance. The last word I didn't know was knucklehead that means a person stupid or fool.
